Facial exercises help in reducing and banish double chin and you can try exercises like tongue press, jaw release, neck rotation, pigeon pose, kiss face, head lifts, etc. These exercises make facial muscles firm, give prominent jaw line, firm sagging neck, release stress, prevent early signs of aging, make you look youthful with high cheek bones and ofcourse reduce double chin. Double chin deduction is the only thing which does not need any medication and plastic surgery to get corrected and few fitness tips are sufficient.

Jaw release

Sit or stand in a straight position and move your jaws up and down like you are chewing gum and keep your lips close. Inhale deeply through your nose and then exhale when humming. Then wide open your mouth and with the tongue tip, press back of the bottom teeth. Hold this position for few seconds, inhale and then exhale while making ‘ahh’ sound. This process takes 80-90 seconds. Repeat the process for 2-3 minutes.

Diet and food also play a vital role in forming double chin. Fats and carbs can give you double chin, which means you need to change your diet.

Change in diet and healthy eating not only reduce double chin but also benefit the whole body. Food which contains trans-fatty acids, cholesterol, carbs, saturated fats and sugar lead to weight gain and should be avoided to reduce double chin.

These foods block the arteries which lead to deposition of fats in the body. So change in diet can prove as one of the best fitness tips to reduce double chin. Food like- dairy products like cheese and butter and meat like beef, lamb, pork, etc contains saturated fats, and one should only eat 10% of them in their diet. Eat food like lean meats such as chicken and turkey and avoid cookies, chips, fired food and consume lots of water, fresh fruits and veggies, fish, nuts and olive oil.

You can treat double chin with home remedies as well. Facial massage is good for keeping facial skin firm but do not opt for facials before you hit your late 20s. Try these:

  • Massage your face with warm olive oil for 15-20 minutes in the morning to get rid of saggy chin.
  • Drink green tea twice or thrice in a day or you can also massage the skin with brewed tea bags.
  • Take 1 tablespoon glycerin, ½ tablespoon Epsom salt and 2-3 drops of peppermint oil and mix well. Apply this pack on your neck and chin to get rid of double chin. Do this 3-4 times in a week.
  • Apply mask of honey and milk cream for 10 minutes and wash it off with lukewarm water for firm skin and tone chin area. Do this twice in a week.
  • Chew sugarless chewing gum everyday, it is the best exercise to reduce the twin chin and also maintain healthy gums.
